When school life is consistently organized – the backpack is devoid of junk, the binders are in good shape, the homework logs are being completed on a regular basis – it’s time to move to the next, and arguably most important, step: harnessing passion.
Below are some of my students’ projects, along with a brief description of why and how they were created.

Mitchell was not a prolific writer. He would complete written assignments as quickly as possible, omitting important details and most elements of structure. On a seemingly unrelated note, he’s a fanatic for baseball (as I was in 7th grade – what is it about The Game that draws us in so deeply?). His blog, below, is our attempt to leverage his passion to improve his writing. I’d hoped he would write one or two entries a week. In his first month, he wrote 23.
